Pennsylvania Police Officer Arrested for Rape and Abuse of 13-Month-Old Child

Charges of rape and severe indecent abuse of a 13-month-old kid have led to the arrest of a Pennsylvania police officer.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police Lykens Criminal Investigation Unit, Officer Steven Kyle Cugini was taken into custody on Tuesday without any problems.

Between April 11 and April 15, complaints of a 13-month-old with significant bruises prompted the Lykens unit its first response. This sparked an inquiry into the event, during which time detectives discovered that the victim had experienced sexual assault, serious bruises, and broken bones.

According to the authorities, the youngster was brought to Hershey Medical Center, where PSP and the Dauphin County youngster Abuse Team examined their injuries.

The youngster reportedly had additional injuries, including fractured tibia and fibula in her left leg, which medical experts believe are signs of sexual assault, according to criminal accusations.

According to the records, Cugini first attributed the injuries on a fall, diaper rash, and the household dog. He reportedly later told authorities, under interrogation, that he had been caring for the youngster alone when the injuries happened.

Cugini's arrest followed the approval of criminal charges by the Dauphin County District Attorney's office on Tuesday. Cugini's immediate suspension is in place while the inquiry is ongoing, per police policy.
